Project 365: Week 24

So are you enjoying the summer? Where is the time going? Seems like just yesterday the kids got out of school for the summer and now I can tell them, “You go back to school next month.” Wow. The time really is flying…

This week’s shots were taken while I was on vacation. I feel ready for another one. πŸ™‚

Fresh lavender at a farmer’s market. My kids loved how they could stroke some lavender between their palms and then walk away with that beautiful smell on their skin. Now I’m on a kick to grow some at home. But I don’t have the greenest of thumbs, so we’ll see how that goes.

Self-explanatory. πŸ™‚

A beautiful sunset (one of several) over Currituck Sound on the Outer Banks. Makes you want to win the lottery and buy a summer house. If only it were so easy!

I watched this dog for probably 20 minutes. He was amazing. His owner would throw that red ball way out into the sound and the dog could not WAIT to fly into the water to retrieve it. Great to see him swimming his little heart out and romping around in the shallow water. Now I want a dog.

Strolling and exploring, and came across a box of starfish. Pretty cool.

This is one of my favorite photos from vacation. We rented a Jeep and went driving on the dunes and the beach in search for wild horses. For a bit it looked like it might be a dud. The weather was a bit threatening, meaning the horses tended to retreat toward the swamp. But toward the end of our outing we came across about 10 of them coming over a dune. These two males were not playing nicely with each other. While they fought the females and baby horses walked down the beach, away from the feisty ones.

Aahhhhhh……

Project 365: Week 23

A week of, well…all sorts of stuff! πŸ™‚

Beautiful, beautiful…Β  (I lack impartiality on this one.)

A couple of first-edition Wizard of Oz books I snagged at an auction. Woot!

I just loved the sunlight in her hair. πŸ™‚

Never stop learning. Or at least looking at the pretty, colorful pictures.

Wandering in the garden…

Old toys, new joys.

Project 365: Week 22

I went to an auction of a rare and used family-owned bookstore lately. Besides snagging a bunch of first editions and the Complete Works of Benjamin Franklin, I had my eye on some antique maps and these vintage boxes. But they were auctioning the boxes as one lot of about 50! What would I do with 50 boxes? Where would I put them? Alas…so I just photographed them instead.

A labor of love. This year I do the promo and event shoots for PRiMA Theatre Co. Here is a shot of an amazingly talented performer as she warms up before the show.

I love the lines and curves on old cars…

Taking the hill…

I love the colors blooming in our yard this year. We have all sorts of flowers (although I’m terrible with names) and colors out the wazoo.Β  They are blooming and growing. Sadly, I can’t say the same for my “this is so easy your two-year-old can do it” vegetable garden.

Orange is a powerful color. It can stimulate creativity, I find. I love orange and try to find some wherever I go (especially paired with blue, and then I just drink in that color combination)!

A quick, oh-my-the-day’s-almost-over kind of shot. A local burger/ice cream drive-in where I grew up. We will drive an hour just to get ice cream there. It’s the kind of place where servers used to come out on roller skates to serve your food, and invariable there are classic cars in the lot. Pretty cool….

Project 365: Week 21

Only slightly behind in posting for the 365 Project. And, believe it or not, I have several other postings in the works NOT related to this project. Well, they are at least on my list if not actually in the works. Yet. πŸ™‚

A bit of street photography in NYC . . .

Celebrate! Birthday time!

I can’t lay claim to making these, only photographing them! πŸ™‚

Oh, those eyes…

One of my favorite places . . . the New York Public Library on 42nd Street. Yep, I’m a bookworm.

A spring surprise…a nest above our door frame! We ended up with four little friends in it.

I had one of these when I was a kid, and now my daughter has one. I have to say I enjoy it more now. Potholder, anyone?

Project 365: Week 20

“Dream what you want to dream, go where you want to go, be what you want to be. Because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.” — Anonymous

It’s all in how you play the game. But you gotta play…

Changing, evolving weather…loved the clouds!

Some games make you scratch your head. For those of you who don’t know about these (and I would consider you lucky!), these are Go-Gos (no, not the band). It’s a game/toy/craze that swept school in the spring and the kids’ obsession over these plastic critters was about to drive me nuts.

Play hard.

Love the simplicity and light.

Simplicity…

No, this is not Photoshopped (oh my, I just used Photoshop as a verb! Shame on me….). We saw this and my kids decided we needed to go searching for leprechauns and the pot of gold. Sadly, we didn’t find either.

Project 365: Week 19

Yep, I’m still here, chugging along with the pictures of the day, or POTDs as they are now called in my house. The spring brought a lot of activities that kept me from posting as regularly as I would like…kids’ concerts and sports, end-of-school-year madness, an early vacation.

Much on the horizon but first off — trying to catch up a bit!! πŸ™‚

Strolling along Central Park…

I spent a couple of hours in the early morning wandering through Central Park. It was blissfully peaceful, and the early hour enabled me to get this shot before the throngs of people descended on the park. It’s one of my favorites.

Love me some reflections!

OK, it’s lame. But I got super-excited over my new camera bag. Very feminine!

Glee promo shoot for PRiMA Theatre Co. Crazy fun!

Travels through nature…or a small part of it.

I love this! A bird made a nest on the frame of our front door. I’ve been told that now the birds will come back year after year. People say that like it’s a bad thing! I love it (and a hose works just fine to wash away the extra, uh, droppings). πŸ™‚

Project 365: Week 18

What a busy week!!

I went on my first venture to the Faerie Festival in Glen Rock, Pa., a few weeks ago. It was incredible (I have a LOT more photos to go through and will post a photo essay of the event sometime soon)!

When you’ve got kids, you’ve got crafts. My daughter made these and I think they are gorgeous (not impartial at all)!

The simplicity of spring…

More simple joys…

OK, NOT so simple! I don’t recall doing math this way when I was a kid. Got me a learning curve, I guess…

My son’s baseball team has struggles with hitting — as in, they can go an entire game and maybe (MAYBE) get one or two hits. Well, his was the only hit in this game and he managed to get a triple off of this pitch.

I love checking into a hotel and having a sweet surprise waiting for me. πŸ™‚
